To change your life, you must change the way you think.
What does this mean? You must change your beliefs. Consider ways of looking at your own mind. What can make you more effective when you make these changes? Try to visualize that the brain is the hardware and the mind is the software that runs the brain. Every time you update the software in your mind, you will be able to change your beliefs, your brain and your life.
Change Your Thoughts
You may notice that when you change your thoughts, you change your brain. There is a video clip which shows how the neurons move in your brain, moving and connecting with other neurons in real time. For many years scientists have been feeding us false information that the brain cannot be changed. Your brain is a reflection of your mind. To give some indication of what I mean: I met a lady recently who had a very stern expression on her face. My immediate thought was, she is not a very nice person. So, I avoided her. She probably looked at me and noticed that I was avoiding her and formed the thought I was too good to be noticing the likes of her. When I finally spoke with her, I found that she was a nice person and hopefully she thought the same of me. As humans, we do this often.
How do you question your mental model?
Give yourself the opportunity to reassess when entertaining certain thoughts. Be open to questioning things. We do not have to believe that everything that we had learnt is wrong about our current mental model of reality. However, we need to question our interpretation at times. We become the person that we believe we are. Sometimes we think we are not good enough because that is what we were told so often. So, we believe it. This could all change when we begin to question that and realize that we really are as good or better than the next person. All to do with perception!
How do you change your brain?
Think about that and become aware of the many opportunities which surround you. What drives you? What are you passionate about? What successes in your past excited you? You may surprise yourself and watch as your life changes for the better.
What is the concept of fairness?
Life is sometimes not fair. Yet we have been told that it is. We do experience much difficulty and feel quite hopeless at times when we are not able to turn things around. There are so many university graduates who have studied hard through all their school years with high hopes of being successful and earning lots of money. Only to have their hopes dashed by the fact that they cannot find a job. This leads to a victim mentality. Why me? Why is life so unfair? What did I do wrong?
Take responsibility for this. Make the mind shift. Take the time to find a different perspective. Course correct and see what happens. Quite often an opportunity arises and this could be an alternate path to your dream job. When your mind shifts, you change your brain and your life. Is this a good thing or not? This is your choice. Reboot the software of your mind, change your brain, change your beliefs, change your life!
